New blog for the blogosphere - Jackie King-Turner

Following on from my appearance on Stratford Community Radio to talk about blogging (and play some prog rock) it is nice to announce that the presenter of the show, Jackie King-Turner, has set up her own blog.

The first post "The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step" is a really interesting discussion on why Jackie as established her blog and what she wants to achieve with it.

I would recommend it for other aspiring bloggers because creating that sense of purpose makes it much easier to decide what to write on a post by post basis.  Defining an objective and then some milestones also helps to create commitment.  The worst thing you can do with blogging is to start...and then give up after a couple of posts.

Well done Jackie.  Look forward to the next issue.

Talking about Blogging - Stratford Community Radio

Looking forward to guesting on Stratford Community Radio today to talk about blogging.  I even get to choose some music to play.  Sounds like Desert Island Discs!

A podcast will available at some point minus the songs http://www.myscr.co.uk.  They have to be removed to comply with the broadcast licence, so nobody will get to hear my favourite tunes.  Since I was going to choose classics of prog and rock it is probably for the best.

Big thanks to Jo Ridgley for the referral (via BNI Edgbaston)

Marie Curie - Blooming Great Ball, Solihull

Congratulations need to go to Mike Nevin of Alliance Best Practice for his efforts in helping to organise the Marie Curie - Bloomin Great Ball at the St Johns Hotel in Solihull yesterday. The event raised many thousands of pounds in aid of the Solihull Hospice rebuilding project.

The event featured Crackerjack legend Don Maclean and a kilted Mr Motivator providing MC and auctioneering skills.  And they certainly managed to relieve quite a few punters of large sums of cash for the auction lots.

Mike is raising more money for the Marie Curie charity by doing a sponsored bike ride around Jamaica.  He is very close to his target of £6,000 so feel free to support him at http://original.justgiving.com/michaelnevin
